Perth to Sydney
Section 6 — Ed Solo
Perth → Sydney
Across the Nullarbor and Eyre Peninsula, through Adelaide, Melbourne, completing the first electric motorcycle circumnavigation of mainland Australia.
5,666 km | 19 days
Why is this so challenging?
Section 6 is the longest of the entire journey and Ed rides it alone. After 12,000 km and three months on the road, the final push home demands everything the previous sections have taught him about range management, patience and self-reliance.
Departing Perth, Ed heads south to Augusta at the southwestern tip of the continent before turning east through Albany and along the dramatic Great Southern coastline to Esperance. From there the route swings onto the Nullarbor — one of the longest stretches of straight road on earth, crossing the WA/SA border through Balladonia, Madura and the Nullarbor roadhouse.
This is where the Experia's charging discipline is tested to its absolute limit. The gaps between stops run to 334–404 km per day with fast charges along the way, across multiple consecutive days, with no towns, no backup options and no margin for error. Every kilowatt-hour counts.
Crossing into South Australia, Ed rides the Eyre Peninsula through Streaky Bay and Port Lincoln before pushing north through Spalding and into Adelaide for a rest day.
The final run takes him through the Coonawarra wine country to Mount Gambier, across the Victorian border into Melbourne for another rest day, then east through Orbost and Batemans Bay along the Sapphire Coast before the last 289 km home to Sydney.
After 91 days and approximately 18,000 km, the circumnavigation is complete — the first electric motorcycle to circle mainland Australia.
